Boy complains, "Winter! I hate it! I wish it were Spring."
Wish Wind grants him his wish. For a time, Boy is happy.
But soon, Boy tires of Spring. "I wish, instead, it were Summer."
Again, Wish Wind grants the wish, reluctantly.
Rebellious against guidance given by Wish Wind,
Boy exclaims, "If only I were older, then you would no longer tell me
what to do. I wish I were old."
The wish was granted. Old Man realizes the folly
of Boy's wishes and says sadly to Wish Wind, "I suppose it is too late
now, but if I had one last wish to make, I would wish only that Boy
be given the patience to enjoy the time that is now."
And the gentle Wish Wind grants one last wish.
