Step back in time and spend a day with Little Wolf and his sister, Skye, in an ancient Cherokee village on the feast day of Itse Selu. Little Wolf and Skye lived in the area of the United States we now know as North Carolina. They lived in the time before Columbus discovered the Americas. What we learn of these children and their life has been gathered from the memories of contemporary Cherokee people, from writings first recorded by Europeans such as Hernando de Soto, and from archaeological discoveries. Faithful to the contemporary and historical artifacts, Don Stewart's illustrations transport us to a woodland village in the Appalachians and the life of the Cherokee people on the day of their harvest festival.
