Description
In the first of three linked stories, an Ojibway grandfather and his grandson set out early one morning in a birchbark canoe. The quiet of the misty morning is broken by the hoot of a loon. Grandfather and grandson watch as the male loon performs a powerful dance to tell them that the lake is his home. In their second story, the two climb high on a rocky cliff at noon. After waiting patiently, they are honored by the presence of an eagle. A starry night is the setting for their final story, as they travel into the woods. The child's desire to see night animals is rewarded by an encounter with a pack of timber wolves.
