Description
Nick Corelli had nightmares. They began with a day of nightmares. First, his girl dropped him for a college man. Then, as he was out driving, trying to forget his girl, a man fell from an overpass and landed on his car. The man died and the car was totaled. Finally, later that night, someone broke into the house while Nick was there alone and shot his dog. Of all this, it was the falling man's face that haunted Nick's dreams the most. The police said the fall was suicide, but Nick knew that the man had not wanted to die.

To escape his nightmares, and also to escape his new policeman stepfather for a while, Nick decided to send Spring vacation driving the family motorhome to Texas to visit his older brother, Mickey. The trip, Nick thought, would help him forget what had happened, bring him peace of mind. Instead each mile took him deeper and deeper into a new, living nightmare. Because Nick was right; Paul Valerian, the man who had died, had not been a suicide. And there were those who thought Nick knew and was about to profit from the reasons Valerian had died.

Nick was not alone on his trip. He had his dog, recovered from the bullet wound, and a stowaway neighbor to help. But you can't hide a huge motorhome, you can't ask for help when you aren't sure what your problem is, and you can't defeat danger when you aren't sure why it it following you.

Nick had a lot of courage. But sometimes it takes more than courage, it takes thought and more than a little luck to deal with true danger. Willo Davis Roberts gives us a breathtaking adventure story.
